Sherly Sulaiman
Sherly Sulaiman
Sherly Sulaiman first discovered yoga in 1996. It was included as part of her acting scholarship curriculum but she knew even then that there was something extremely special, beyond the movements of the physical body. She continued to explore various forms of yoga and meditation until she discovered Acharya’s Yoga Centre in 1999.
Within a year of attending, she was personally invited to teach at the Centre by Acharya Upendra Roy.
She was taught directly by Acharya on a one to one basis, as well as completing The Teacher’s Training course at the Yoga Centre. Although she has explored various yoga schools in Los Angeles, New York and Sydney, she chooses to teach Acharya’s method of Hatha Yoga for she feels it is the most balanced, safe and complete yoga sequence she has encountered.
Today she continues to teach at the Yoga Centre, some corporate venues and private classes. She looks forward to incorporating the Yoga Way Of Life into her clinical hypnotherapy at InnerCity Hypnosis and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) practices with The Depression Releif Clinic.
Emily Curtis
I begun practising yoga in 1997 and have grown to be more and more serious about yoga as a way of life as the years passed by.
After five years of practising my first teacher Acharya Upendra Roy trained a few of his students to become teachers in 2002, since then I begun teaching with him at the center in between travelling.
Travelling has always been a big passion of mine but I have tried to incorporate yoga into my adventures wherever I went.
I studied with great teachers in Japan, and Europe and spent long periods of time studying yoga in India. Aside from training as a teacher in Acharya’s system I have also completed teacher training courses in Iyengar Yoga and Sivananda Yoga, both in India.
Although I have studied many different varieties of yoga I always come back to the Acharya’s Yoga system as it is a complete system combining all elements of Hatha Yoga and Raja Yoga.
All the teachers at the centre and all teachers trained by Acharya feel, as I do, very blessed to be able to pass on the tradition of Acharya’s teaching and we are dedicated to this special approach. I am ever greateful and hope to continue passing on the knowledge and techniques of hatha yoga.
