Sarah Hyland

Through yoga, you will find strength, flexibility and confidence. Not only in your body, but also your mind – Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland

Hatha yoga teacher and practitioner Sarah Hyland has made this her philosophy for the past 15 years.

Sarah began studying yoga in the late 1990s, and was advised to go as close to the original source of a yoga discipline as possible.

In Sydney, the most authentic authority on Hatha yoga was Acharya Upendra Roy, and Sarah began studying with him in 1998.

Three years later she started teaching Hatha yoga under Acharya’s supervision, and completed her teacher training in 2006.

Since then, Sarah has travelled the world and studied with many different teachers and styles in India, the United States and Australia. But she always returns to the wisdom she gained from Acharya’s teachings, as a well-rounded daily practice of Hatha yoga.

Sarah believes the regular practice of Hatha yoga has given her more confidence in her body; and a deeper calmness from the combination of relaxation, deep breathing, postures and meditation, to help face life’s daily challenges.

Sarah brings to this class not only her knowledge of physical wellbeing, but a passionate belief in the healing powers of yoga for the body, mind and spirit.

Sharing this gift of yoga, and helping others find calmness in their own lives, is Sarah

I begun practising yoga in 1997 and have grown to be more and more serious about yoga as a way of life as the years passed by.

After five years of practising my first teacher Acharya Upendra Roy trained a few of his students to become teachers in 2002, since then I begun teaching with him at the center in between travelling.

Travelling has always been a big passion of mine but I have tried to incorporate yoga into my adventures wherever I went.

I studied with great teachers in Japan, and Europe and spent long periods of time studying yoga in India. Aside from training as a teacher in Acharya’s system I have also completed teacher training courses in Iyengar Yoga and Sivananda Yoga, both in India.

Although I have studied many different varieties of yoga I always come back to the Acharya’s Yoga system as it is a complete system combining all elements of Hatha Yoga and Raja Yoga.

All the teachers at the centre and all teachers trained by Acharya  feel, as I do, very blessed to be able to pass on the tradition of Acharya’s teaching and we are dedicated to this special approach. I am ever greateful and hope to continue passing on the knowledge and techniques of hatha yoga.

A friend introduced me to Acharya’s Yoga and Meditation Centre in 1992.

Within 6 months of attending Acharya’s classes, I became a student teacher and completed my training with the International Yoga Teachers’ Association (IYTA) in 1995.

I continued to instruct at the Yoga Centre up until 2004 and recently returned in 2011.
